Karisma Kapoor to play Hema Malini’s role in Satte Pe Satta remake

Sanjay Dutt, whose first production Rascals is due for release next week, is all set to go on floor with his second production which is the remake of 1982′s Satte Pe Satta, in December. Satte Pe Satta will be directed by Soham Shah, who has earlier made Kaal and Luck.

Sanjay Dutt will be seen playing the dual roles of Ravi and Babu which were played by Amitabh Bachchan in the original and Karisma Kapoor, who is making her Bollywood comeback with Vikram Bhatt’s project Dangerous Ishq, will be cast opposite him.

Kajol was the original choice for the role played by Hema Malini in the original but since she just delivered a baby, Sanjay didn’t want to pressurize her to return to the studio. Sanjay then approached his Lagey Raho Munnabhai co-star Vidya Balan for the role but she was busy with her other assignments. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was also offered step into the shoes of Hema Malini, but she got pregnant. There were also talks of Madhuri Dixit Nene being approached for the same role but finally they decided on casting Karisma Kapoor as she is a fantastic actress and suits the role perfectly. Sanjay Dutt is also planning to request Amitabh Bachchan to introduce the characters in the remake.

Vidya Balan and Tusshar Kapoor give the kiss a miss for The Dirty Picture

Nervous as hell about his first screen kiss, it seems Tusshar Kapoor is not destined to kiss Vidya Balan for The Dirty Picture in a hurry. As per the script, the torrid smooch between the couple is mandatory. However, when it came to actually shooting the kissing scene, a series of circumstances have somehow aborted the proposed kiss. It started with the lack of rehearsals for the sequence.

The latest setback was a dragonfly attack in Hyderabad on location just when the long-due kiss was to be shot.

The much-discussed seduction sequence between Vidya Balan and Tusshar Kapoor was to be shot before Vidya Balan left for a brief holiday. And now everyone is wondering when the kiss would actually happen.

Says Tusshar, “Yeah, I don’t know why. The kiss with Vidya just hasn’t happened so far. I was very nervous about doing the intimate scenes. The director Milan Luthria assured me that Vidya and I would be comfortable in the intimate moments after rehearsals. But the rehearsals for the love scenes didn’t happen. We both got busy with other things. Then there was dragon-fly attack and we had to pack up abruptly.”

Now Tusshar has suddenly signed a new film, Samir Karnik’s comedy about star-crossed Rajasthani-Punjabi lovers, played by Tusshar and Kulraj Randhawa which would now have to be accommodated into his The Dirty Picture schedule, along with the sequel to Kya Kool Hain Hum.
So where does that leave the fugitive kiss?
Laughs Tusshar nervously, “Hopefully we’ll shot the kiss soon. If God and the dragonflies allow.”

Ash to play Sanjay’s wife in Satte Pe Satta

MUMBAI: The rumour has it that Sanjay Dutt wants to have Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on the lead opposite him in Satte Pe Satta remake.

If all goes well, Aishwarya Rai will play Sanjay’s wife in the film. “We don’t know how the rumour started that Vidya Balan had been signed to play Sanju’s wife in Satte Pe Satta. Nobody even approached her. Dutt is extremely keen that we sign Aishwarya to play the female lead opposite him. He is adamant that only Ash fits the role. The actress is keen on the idea of doing the film if everything else works out,” a source disclosed on Friday.

The bollywood diva, Aishwarya Rai, had earlier worked with Sanjay in David Dhawan’s Hum Kisise Kum Nahin and Leena Bajaj’s Shabd.

Ash averts an awkward meeting with Salman

Bumping to your ex can be quite a gauche, but not until you are as smart as Aishwarya. Bollywood queen Aishwarya Rai managed to avert a potentially awkward moment with Salman Khan at the recently held 17th Annual Star Screen Awards.

Thanks to some quick thinking and clever move, Ash avoided a chance encounter with her past lover Salman thereby purging a moment that could have been the next day’s headlines.

Speaking to a daily, a source present at the event said, “The closing act of the awards was performed by Aishwarya on many of her popular hits. As she reached the backstage much ahead of time for her performance, she decided to rest at the nearby lounge till her performance was announced. But before Ash could enter the lounge she bumped into Vidya Balan and the two exchanged pleasantries for some time.”

“After her conversation Ash went inside, glanced around and was seen walking out of the room swiftly. Ash stood quietly outside and refused to budge till her performance was announced,” the source added.

When the organisers of the show, Cineyug, and the people around were wondering about the reason for Ash`s sudden exit, Salman Khan was suddenly spotted casually strolling out of the lounge.

“It was obvious that Salman was inside (the lounge) but Ash with her usual poise, assessed a potentially embarrassing situation and left quickly thus averting it completely. After Salman left, a crew member rushed to Aishwarya and told her that she could now probably go and relax at the lounge but Ash refused and stayed outside,” the source said.

Well, it’s high time for Ash as well to move on with whatever happened in the past. We are sure Salman’s not going to mind it either.

No One Killed Jessica premiere in Mumbai

MUMBAI: The makers of No One Killed Jessica seem to be confident of their product. Unlike most Bollywood films that are premiered just a day before the release date, the film was shown to the critics and film fraternity three days before it is to be released world wide. And as expected, it turned out to be a star-studded event.

Yes, it was celebrity galore at No One Killed Jessica premiere. Big actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha and Shabana Azmi attended the premiere besides the cast of the film Rani Mukherjee, Vidya Balan and Myra Karn. Actress Kalki Koechlin and filmmakers like Yash Chopra, Madhur Bhandarkar, Shekhar Kapoor and Dibaker Banerjee also graced the premiere of the film.

No One Killed Jessica is based on model Jessica Lal”s murder case. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, the film has Rani playing the role of a reporter and Vidya playing Jessica”s younger sister Sabrina. It is set to hit the theatres tomorrow, January 7.

Vidya celebrates 33rd birthday today

MUMBAI: Vidya Balan turns 33 on January 1. The actress plans on bringing in her birthday and the New Year at her parents” place in Khar, Mumbai.

Initially, she was planning to spend the special day with friends, but given the fact that she”s been on the road promoting No One Killed Jessica for the last few weeks, Vidya wants to be with her mom and dad.

A source close to Vidya says, “She”s been in and out of Mumbai for the last six months. Earlier she was shooting for Sujoy Ghosh”s Kahaani for almost two months.

After that she got into the promotion of Jessica travelling to almost every major city. Her busy schedule hasn”t given her any chance to spend time with her parents.”

Since her birthday and New Year fall on the same day, Vidya has a double reason to celebrate.

Despite buying a new apartment in Khar, the actress wasn”t able to renovate the place or spend time in it. Her New Year resolution is to buy some antique furniture and do up her place.

Every year, Vidya prefers to keep her birthday a low-key affair. Rather than go out with friends, she enjoys spending quality time with her parents. “This year will be no different. She will bring in her birthday and the New Year at her parents” house. Since she doesn”t believe in cutting a cake, her mom plans to prepare a sweet dish on the occasion,” a source said.

After the release of No One Killed Jessica, Vidya plans to start preparing for her next film Balaji”s Dirty Picture based on the life of Silk Smitha.

Sultan – The warrior renamed as ‘Hara’

Superstar Rajnikanth’s animation venture Sultan – The Warrior has got a new twist. Being produced and directed by Rajnikanth’s daughter Soundarya Rajnikanth, the film has now been renamed as Hara with Rajnikanth appearing in live action role, apart from his 3D clone in the movie.

Initially, planned to be made in a complete 3D with the usage of advance technology like motion capture and a gigantic budget, the film
is now going through a lot of creative changes.

It has also been learnt that KS Ravikumar will be co-directing Hara along with Soundarya and Bollywood diva Vidya Balan has been approached to share the screen space with Rajnikanth.

Hara is one of the names of Lord Shiva and is being executed at
Soundarya’s own Chennai based animation studio ‘Ocher Studios’. We tried to reach the spokespersons at Ocher, but they were unavailable for comment.

Vidya Balan doing cameo in Thank You?

Anees Bazmee is super busy shooting his next comedy Thank You starring Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Suniel Shetty, Celina Jaitly and Sonam Kapoor. The crew shot extensively in Canada recently. As expected, it’ll be a comic film from Bazmee.

If the aforementioned starcast wasn’t enough, director Anees Bazmee has now decided to add one more star to this already star studded film. Our sources reported that Vidya Balan recently shot for the film in Mumbai. Vidya however will be seen only in a cameo role as Akshay Kumar’s wife in Thank You. When Bollywood Hungama spoke to Anees Bazmee, he refused to comment on this.

With so much star power, Thank You definitely is one film to look forward to.
