Benazir murder case: Arrest warrants issued for Saud, Shahzad

A special Anti-Terrorism Court of Rawalpindi has issued non-bailable arrest warrants of former CPO Saud Aziz and SP Ashfaq Shahzad on the request of FIA in Benazir murder case.
The court judge Rana Nisar Ahmed heard the Benazir murder case in Adiala Jail. The judge during the hearing ordered Saud Aziz and Ashfaq Shahzad to appear in the court in the upcoming hearing on December 11 and he also issued non-bailable arrest warrants against the two officials for their alleged negligence. FIAs special public prosecutor Muhammad Azhar and Ch. Zulfiqar presented their arguments in the court. Azhar said that Saud and Shahzad were companions of the culprits. He said Khurram Shahzad was deployed in Liaqat Bagh to supervise security of Benazir Bhutto but Saud sent him to Koral area of Islamabad deliberately.
The court while accepting the plea of accused Aitzaz Shah and allowed him to continue his education in jail. The hearing was adjourned till December 11.
Raja Pervaiz Ashraf’s Arrest warrants issued
RAWALPINDI Pakistan-Raja Pervaiz Ashraf’s Arrest warrants issued, Local court, issued non-bailable arrest warrants of Federal Minister for Water and Power, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and others for not appearing in the court despite repeated summons to face a criminal case registered in 1998 implicating them in quarrel and misbehaved with the staff of the Lahore High Court (LHC).
Judge Syed Farrukh Hussain Shamsi issued the non-bailable arrest warrants of the federal minister, Shahzada Kosar Gilani and Muhammad Sabir workers of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) directing Airport Police to arrest them and produce before the court on November 7 after police submitted the accused could not be reached at their addresses.
The court has been conducting the trial of the accused after they were booked by Airport Police on December 23 1998 on the request of the Deputy Registrar of the LHC’s Rawalpindi bench.
The case was registered on charges of rioting, defamation, criminal intimidation, encountering and obstructing public servants after the accused misbehaved with the staff of the court when they were stopped to blacken the face of a government servant for recording his statement as witness against Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari who had moved the LHC against the corruption proceedings against them by the then government.
In the same case close aide of Benazir Bhutto moved an application under section 249-A of CrPC seeking acquittal in the case saying she was dejectedly related with the case and there was nothing incriminating against her in the case.
Raja Pervaiz Ashraf’s Arrest warrants issued was first posted on October 4, 2009 at 10:15 am.
