CHITTAGONG: Graeme Swann claimed five wickets as Bangladesh was dismissed at 296 in its first innings Sunday in reply to England’s 599-6 declared, on the third day of the first test.
England elected not to enforce the follow-on, keen to rest its bowlers before a likely declaration on Monday. At tea, England was 12-0 in its second innings.
Mushfiqur Rahim scored 79 runs to head the home side’s meager resistance, adding 113 runs for the eighth wicket with Naeem Islam, but the hosts lost their last three wickets in the space of four deliveries.
Resuming on its overnight score of 154-5, Bangladesh looked like making a quick exit when Tamim Iqbal made an early departure, beaten by movement off the seam and bowled by Tim Bresnan. That ended a fine innings of 86 runs.
Nightwatchman Shahadat Hossain was the next to go, as debutant paceman Steven Finn claimed his first test wicket, with Paul Collingwood taking the catch at second slip.
Rahim and Islam came together with the score on 183/7 but dug in for a disciplined partnership that defied England’s bowlers, seeing off almost 10 overs of the new ball before the final collapse came.
Islam (38) was run out attempting a second, beaten by a slick piece of fielding by Michael Carberry. Rahim went next ball as he attempted to smash a Swann delivery through midwicket where substitute fielder James Tredwell took a diving, one-handed catch. Rahim’s 79 came from 152 balls, with 15 fours.
Last man Rubel Hossain negotiated one delivery but was out the next, bowled by Swann.
England is the only test-playing nation to have never lost to Bangladesh in any form of the game.

Joannie Rochette Vancouver 2010
Joannie Rochette Vancouver 2010, A gutsy heart felt performance by Joannie Rochette who held her nerve for three incredible minutes, brought a lump to the throat of everyone who watched her performance in the Olympic ice skating competition.
The Canadian star stole the show after dissolving into tears following a near faultless performance just two days after her mother’s sudden death. It leaves the skater in third place at the half way stage. The six time Canadian champion left all her troubles behind her for the three minute routine of her sultry performance to La Cumparsita.
After the performance the crowd went wild and the calm skater could then not hold back her tears. As she waited for the results she was in the arms of her coach Manon Perron as she received a total of 71.36 putting her just behind Yuna and Japan’s Mao Asada. Rochette said after that she will remember it “forever.” She added that she received a lovely welcome.

Sachin Tendulkar Becomes First to Hit 200 in ODI History
Gwalior:Sachin Tendulkar Becomes First to Hit 200 in ODI History, Sachin Tendulkar became the first man ever to score double
hundred in one-dayers when he unlocked the game’s biggest and most awaited milestone versus South Africa at Gwalior on Wednesday.
Watch Live Cricket
Tendulkar reached the historic landmark off just 147 deliveries, and having already treated the capacity crowd and millions of television viewers to 25 sublime hits to the fence and three mighty sixes, Tendulkar without taking the foot off the accelerator pedal throughout his saga.
This achievement came in the last over, and shortly after Tendulkar had achieved the highest ever score in one-dayers when, with a single to short-fine left, he overtook Saeed Anwar’s 13-year old record of 194 runs.
South Africa seemed to have got some respite when India lost the wicket of power-hitter Yusuf Pathan just when his partnership with Sachin Tendulkar was beginning to take threatening proportions for the visitors.
Pathan’s wicket in the 41st over came against the run of play to Roelf van der Merve and after India had already amassed 300 runs.
The run-fest for India at Gwalior continued as undeterred by Dinesh Karthik’s loss, Tendulkar continued his rich vein of form, after having raced away to 150 runs off just 118 balls.
Alongwith Pathan, Tendulkar compounded South Africa’s woes mercilessly with an 81 run-partnership for the third wicket off 47 balls.
Even after Pathan’s dismissal, Tendulkar maintained the pressure on South Africans and after 43 overs, India, at 322/3, looked on course for a massive total.
However, their hardly proved to be any relief for South Africa as Mahendra Singh Dhoni then continued from where Pathan had left and with a 29-ball half-century, knocked the stuffing out of the hapless visitors.
Karthik had earlier, missed out on a well-deserved hundred when he scooped out a tame catch to Gibbs at mid-wicket. Having played the perfect foil to an unstoppable Sachin Tendulkar during their second-wicket partnership that fetched 194 runs off just 177 balls, Karthik helped himself to a career best 79 runs, but fell just when his maiden one-day century seemed to be their for the taking.
Karthik lasted 85 balls during his stroke-filled stay that was punctuated with 4 boundaries and 3 sixes.
Gwalior was playing witness to a vintage Tendulkar, as the Master Blaster from Mumbai, continued to turn the heat on the South Africans in the second one-dayer of the three match series here on Wednesday.
Tendulkar, who is enduring a purple patch off late, in Tests as well as the ODIs, had smashed his 46th century of this format off just 90 balls, pulverizing the Proteas bowler ruthlessly into submission.
Despite losing his opening partner Virender Sehwag early, Tendulkar took it upon himself to provide the early momentum, plucking boundaries at will as India raced away to 176/1 after 28 overs.
While Karthik provided solidity to the partnership, Tendulkar was the plunderer.
Some of his shots, like a flick to a delivery from outside the off-stump, the ferocious pull s over mid-wicket, drives- lofted as well as grounded, were the stuff that gave ample proof of the genius Tendulkar was bestowed with, as he had raced away to his half-century off just 37 balls.
His ‘lofted on the up’ shot over mid-off was particularly reminiscent of the Tendulkar of yore.
Watch Live Cricket
Karthik also helped himself to a solid half-century, his land-mark coming off 57 deliveries.
Earlier, after Dhoni had won the toss and elected to bat, India had not made the most auspicious of starts to the match losing Sehwag in just the fourth over with just 25 runs on the board.
Having hit 2 fours already, Sehwag, tried to slash over the point off Wayne Parnell, but failed to beat the third-man where Dale Steyn took a well-judged catch. Meanwhile, after Sehwag recovered from injury he sustained in the last match, India, lead 1-0 in the three-match series, retained the same side that played the last match at Jaipur where as South Africans made three changes in their squad.
J P Duminy, who has been out of form throughout the Test series, came into the side Bosman. Prolific scorer Hashim Amla and all-rounder Van der Merwe were also named in the final XI.
Teams
South Africa (Playing XI): Hashim Amla, Herschelle Gibbs, Jacques Kallis(c), AB de Villiers, Jean-Paul Duminy, Alviro Petersen, Mark Boucher(w), Roelof van der Merwe, Wayne Parnell, Dale Steyn, Charl Langeveldt
India (Playing XI): Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Dinesh Karthik, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni(w/c), Suresh Raina, Yusuf Pathan, Ravindra Jadeja, Praveen Kumar, Ashish Nehra, Sreesanth

India Vs South Africa 1st ODI today
JAIPUR: India Vs South Africa 1st ODI today, After an exciting end to the Test series, India and South Africa will lock horns in the three-match ODI series starting on Sunday at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

Watch Live Cricket
India have been inconsistent in the shorter format of the game. India are placed second in the ODI table but are way behind champions Australia and have the third placed Proteas breathing down their necks.
South Africa can take the second spot if they win the series by a margin of 2-1 or better.
At the Sawai Man Singh Stadium here, both the teams will have their own share of problems.
Harbhajan Singh will skip the first two games for his sister’s wedding while pace spearhead Zaheer Khan has been ruled out of the series due to injury. Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir are also absent with wrist and groin injuries.
But the return of Sachin Tendulkar, who opted out of the tri-series in Bangladesh, has brought back some smiles in the Indian team. Tendulkar is in great touch and has scored four consecutive Test tons.
South Africa will miss their captain Graeme Smith due to a finger fracture and veteran Jacques Kallis will lead the side. But wicketkeeper Mark Boucher is set for a return after sitting out of the Kolkata Test with a back spasm.
Kallis, however, will be banking on the presence of ODI specialists like Herschelle Gibbs, Albie Morkel, Roelof van der Merwe and Charl Langeveldt. The last minute inclusion of Hashim Amla, who was in great touch in the Test series, as a replacement for Smith will bolster the team’s middle order.
South African fast bowler Dale Steyn, hero of their innings win in Nagpur, will be India’s biggest concern but it will be due factor that will also play on skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s mind.

Noelle Pikus Pace
Noelle Pikus-Pace (born December 8, 1982 in Orem, Utah) is an American skeleton racer who has competed since 2000. She won three medals at the FIBT World Championships with a gold (Women’s skeleton: 2007) and two silvers (Women’s skeleton: 2005, Mixed bobsleigh-skeleton team event: 2007).

After winning the silver medal in the women’s skeleton event at the 2005 FIBT World Championships in Calgary, Pikus-Pace emerged as one of the favorites to medal at the upcoming Winter Olympics in Turin. That would change on October 19, 2005 at the bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track in Calgary when she broke her right leg after she and her teammates were hit by a four-man bobsleigh that failed to brake after the finish line. The bobsleigh ejected out of the end of the track and hit Pikus-Pace and teammate Lea Ann Parsley, narrowly missing three other teammates. Pikus-Pace underwent surgery to repair her broken leg, including an insertion of a titanium rod in her right leg. She would return to competition seven weeks later at Igls, Austria, finishing 20th. She would chronicle her comeback from the 2005 freak accident which prevented her participation at Turin. This story was first told in the critically acclaimed documentary 114 Days: The Race to Save a Dream. The US Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation would petition both the FIBT and the IOC to include Pikus-Pace in the women’s skeleton competition, but to no avail. The only American representative would be Katie Uhlaender in women’s skeleton, and she would finish sixth in the event.
Pikus-Pace announced in an October 3, 2007 Associated Press report that she would take the 2007-08 Skeleton World Cup off due to being six months pregnant. Her child, a girl, would be due in January 2008. This was also announced on FIBT’s website on October 5, 2007. On January 19, 2008, Noelle and her husband Janson welcomed their daughter Lacee Lynne Pace. She weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces and was 21 inches long.
Pikus-Pace won the women’s Skeleton World Cup overall title in 2004-5.
She finished fifth in the 2008-09 Skeleton World Cup season opener in Winterberg on November 28, 2008.
It was announced on 17 January 2010 that Pikus-Pace had qualified for the 2010 Winter Olympics. She is competing in the 2010 Games with a sled designed by her husband after her two other sleds had been damaged, including one where her leg was broken in October 2005 during a practice run in Calgary. Her second sled was damaged during transport to the FIBT World Championships 2009 in Lake Placid, New York. Pace’s husband, a project manager at NuQuest, a metal fabrication company in Salt Lake City, Utah, designed a skelton sled in accordance to FIBT regulations to help her out.
