Queen plans to spend jubilee day on formal duties

 

Queen Elizabeth celebrates 60 years on the throne on Monday to become the 2nd British monarch to reach that milestone.

 

During her reign, the royal family has faced tumultuous times and moments of plummeting popularity, above all after the death in 1997 of Princess Diana, the hugely popular ex-wife of her son and heir-to-the-throne Prince Charles.

 

But the royals are enjoying fresh support after the wedding last year of the queen s grandson, Prince William, second-in-line to the throne, to Catherine Middleton.

 

Elizabeth II, 85, became queen aged 25 on Feb. 6, 1952 on the death of her father George VI, while on tour in Kenya with her husband Prince Philip.

 

In a documentary for BBC TV to be shown on Monday, grandson Prince Harry, younger son of Charles, said how much she relied on Prince Philip. “I don t think that she could do it without him, especially when they re both at this age,” he said.

 

Ninety-year-old Prince Philip, the longest-serving consort and oldest-serving spouse of any British monarch, had surgery at Christmas to clear a blocked heart artery.
 

Jackie Shroff makes cameo appearance for Rajinikanth

On Wednesday, when Jaggu Dadda, aka Jackie Shroff, turned 55 he was in Chennai with the legendary Rajinikanth, to make a cameo appearance in legendary Tamil actor’s daughter Soundarya’s film Kochadaiyyan.

Says Jackie warmly, “Rajini-ji’s daughter Soundarya is directing this film with her Dad in the lead. So sweet! She asked me to make a cameo appearance in the film with her father. I immediately flew down to Chennai.When it comes anything to do with Rajinikanth one doesn’t ask questions. One just does the needful.”

Jackie and Rajini go back a long way.

Speaking from Chennai, Jackie recalled, “He was one of the few people at my wedding with Ayesha when we got married in 1989. Rajiniji and I were shooting for Subhash Ghai’s Uttar Dakshin in which he played my younger brother; my stepbrother. It was so much fun. I was the North Indian; he was my South Indian brother. During the lunch break Ayesha and I decided to get married. Just the two of us and those close to us. There was Rajini-ji, Subhash Ghai, Dimple, Anupam Kher and a few of my other friends, that’s it. So you see, I’ve very fond memories of Rajinikanth and would never say no to anything to do with him or his family.”

Jackie says it’s an interesting cameo which Soundarya insisted only he could play. “I believe the film is in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. But even if it was in Swahili, I’d run and do it for Rajinikanth.”

Jackie rushed to Chennai after barely a few hours of sleep. “My birthday is generally a very quiet affair. As always my rakhi-sister Anna Singh came home. Then we went to Riteish and Genelia’s Sangeet. That’s where I brought in my birthday. I flew into Chennai for Rajini-ji’s film early next morning. I can’t think of a better way to spend my birthday.”

Says the actor candidly, “Honestly a birthday is no big deal. I am just beginning to understand life. My first 40 years went into growing up. Now I am finally getting to know what this whole business of living is all about.”

Kristin Cavallari allegedly postponing wedding for baby

TrendPK.com: Kristin Cavallari is set to marry football player Jay Cutler, but first it seems she wants to focus on having her first child with him.

While the two are engaged once again, it sounds like Cavallari will be putting off the wedding until after the birth of their first child, states Hollyscoop. “I’m not even looking for a wedding dress right now. I’m pregnant! I’m not going to go try on wedding dresses,” Cavallari recently commented.

Hopefully, the engagement isn’t broken again before the two manage to walk down the aisle.

Katy Perry to perform at Grammys for first U.S. performance after split

TrendPK.com: Katy Perry is getting back in the game after her split with Russell Brand was announced as it has been revealed that she will be performing at the Grammys this year.

Perry has reportedly been added to the list of performers as she will put on her first U.S. performance since her split with Brand, states UsMagazine.com. Perry is nominated for Record of the Year (“Firework”) and Best Pop Solo Performance.

Perry did perform at the Grammmys last year where she showed images from her wedding with Brand.

Reema Sen set to tie knot with Shiv Karan Singh

The buzz in Bollywood today is that of Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia DSouza’s upcoming wedding. Not far behind is actress Reema Sen who will soon be tying the knot with Delhi based businessman Shiv Karan Singh.

Reema and Shiv have been seeing each other for quite a while now; however they maintained that they have just been good friends. Apparently, the duo didn’t want to reveal their plans as both the families being from different backgrounds hadn’t earlier approved of the marriage.

But now the dates have been fixed for the sangeet, mehendi, marriage and reception from March 9 to 11. The wedding will be a high profile affair.

Reportedly, Reema has roped in designers like Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Suneet Varma and Shantanu and Nikhil for her wedding dresses.

Heidi Klum spotted still wearing wedding ring also

TrendPK.com: Seal has been open about making the decision to continue wearing his wedding ring, and it seems he isn’t the only one who feels that way.

Heidi Klum was spotted wearing a ring that appeared to be either her wedding band or her engagement diamond turned around so the stone wasn’t showing, states TMZ. The yellow diamond band was spotted on her wedding ring finger while she was out in Los Angeles.

Seal has commented that he is wearing his because he still has a connection with Klum even though they are separated. It’s unknown why she may still be wearing her own.

TrendPK.com: Kim Kardashian’s wedding was elaborate all the way through and that includes the reception dinner by Wolfgang Puck.

Wolfgang reportedly went all out for the meal to celebrate Kim and Kris Humphries new status as husband and wife, states E! News. The meal reportedly started with buffalo mozzarella and heirloom tomato salad with basil and “tomato chips.”

Guests then got to choose between hand-formed agnolotti with sweet corn mascarpone and summer truffles or roast chicken with Yukon Gold potato puree, caramelized brussels sprouts and summer truffles.

For dessert, there was the wedding cake, but it is rumored guests ate from a different cake which kept the six-foot design intact.

Kim Kardashian’s wedding reportedly stopped by neighbors

TrendPK.com: It seems that Kim Kardashian’s wedding reception could have gone all night if neighbors hadn’t complained about all the noise.

It is reported that authorities pulled the plug on the event after receiving a number of noise complaints, states E! News. The party people reportedly ended at about 1:30 am, but could have been going well into 4 am if there hadn’t been any complaints.
