Nicolas Cage Arrested, Then Bailed Out by Dog the Bounty Hunter

Nicolas Cage has been arrested in New Orleans after a public argument between him and his wife. The actor is currently on location filming a thriller called ‘Medallion’.

Reportedly a passing taxi driver decided to call the police as Cage looked “very drunk” and was yelling at his wife. He also claimed that he saw Cage push his wife. Police arrived at the scene, told Cage and his wife to go home, but apparently a drunk and stubborn Cage said to the police,

“Why don’t you just arrest me?”

So they did exactly that. Police charged Cage with domestic abuse and disturbing the peace, he’s being held on $11,000 bail. A few hours later reality show star Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman paid his bail. Chapman released a statement;

“I am a truly dedicated fan of Mr. Cage and will not be granting any interviews about my client as I wish to respect his privacy…..I performed my duties as a bail bondsman and not in connection with our show. This is what I do for a living. There are two sides of my job: I release my clients after they have been arrested; and pick them up if they don’t show up in court. I do not believe the latter will be the case for Mr. Cage.”

Saudi king’s Gifts for Obama Worth $300,000

Breaking News In his first year as US President, Barack Obama, his family and staff were showered with jewellery, ornaments and rare books worth more than USD 300,000 from Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah.

The King is by far the most generous foreign leader, gifting Obama, his wife and daughters nearly USD 190,000 in luxury gems, a news report here has said. A ruby and diamond jewellery set, given by the king to Michelle Obama, was worth USD 132,000. Among the gifts Obama received from King Abdullah was a marble ornament adorned with miniature gold palm trees and camels, and a Jaeger-LeCoultre brass clock, an Arabian Business report said quoting documents released by the US Federal Register. Next in line was Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, whose presents of watches, silk ties, a crystal table and candlesticks were worth just under USD 33,000; or less than 10 per cent of the Saudi haul.Chinese President Hu Jintao gave Obama a framed and matted fine silk embroidery depicting a portrait study of the First Family, valued at USD 20,000, the register said.Ghana’s first lady, Ernestina Naadu Mills, gifted Michelle Obama a Backes and Strauss watch, crafted in 18 carat gold with diamonds and leather.The Queen of England favoured more modest presents for the first family, opting for framed portraits of herself and her husband, worth a mere USD 775.Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas offered the US leader USD 521 in gifts, including the least expensive item listed by the Federal Register: a USD 75 bottle of olive oil.All the presents are handed over to the National Archives as US law bars any government official from receiving a present from a foreign government. Brangelina give $2M to African wildlife care

WINDHOEK: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie spent Christmas at an African wildlife sanctuary, where they left a $2 million donation under the tree.

The Hollywood power couple was in Namibia, where daughter Shiloh was born in 2006, and stayed at the N/a”an ku sê Wildlife Sanctuary, which takes care of injured animals like cheetahs and lions. The sanctuary is run by conservationists Dr. Rudie van Vuuren and his wife Marlice, according to People magazine.

“We continue to be impressed by their hard work and dedication to the people and conservation of the land and wildlife of Namibia,” Jolie said.

According to the news agency, the stars and their six kids saw a leopard get reintroduced to the wild, and Dr. van Vuuren work on a wounded wild dog.

The sanctuary takes care of mostly orphaned and injured animals that cannot be released back into the wild, and it also offers a luxury resort which raises money for conservation projects.

“We continue to be impressed by their hard work and dedication to the people and conservation of the land and wildlife of Namibia,” Jolie said in a statement.

The African nation also holds some sentimental value for the actress – daughter Shiloh was born in Swakopmund, Namibia, in 2006. Jolie explained, “We want her to grow up with an understanding of her country of birth.”

Queen Elizabeth becomes great-grandmother

LONDON: Queen Elizabeth, 84, became a great-grandmother for the first time when the wife of her grandson Peter Phillips gave birth to a baby girl, Buckingham Palace said on Thursday.

Autumn Philips, a Canadian, gave birth on Wednesday.

“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Autumn”s family have been informed and are delighted with the news. The baby”s name will be confirmed in due course,” the statement said.

Peter Phillips is the only son of the Princess Royal, Princess Anne, and her first husband Mark Phillips.

The baby is 12th in line to the throne.

Her birth also made Peter Phillips”s sister Zara an aunt. The royal family said last week that Zara, a successful equestrian athlete, was to marry rugby player Mike Tindall.

Peter and Autumn Phillips, who courted controversy by selling the rights to their wedding to Hello! magazine for a reported 500,000 pounds ($770,000), live in Hong Kong, where he works for the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Bruni says Sarkozy often thinks about second term

PARIS: French President Nicolas Sarkozy often thinks about whether to run for a second term in 2012, his wife, former supermodel Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, said.

Sarkozy, who was elected in 2007, has yet to say whether he will seek a second five-year term and has given himself until the second half of 2011 to make up his mind.

Asked if Sarkozy had sought her opinion on running again for the presidency, Bruni-Sarkozy told reporters: “He asks for my opinion about many things, as many husbands and wives do.

“But as far as that decision is concerned, it’s a choice that is up to him alone,” she said.

“I think he reflects a lot about it, but I”m not going to get involved. It”s too important, too difficult, too personal for me to get involved. But I will follow him whatever he does,” she added.

Sarkozy, his popularity ratings hovering close to record lows, is fighting to regain public confidence after pushing through an unpopular pension reform in October.

His entourage is drumming up support for a second bid and the opposition has accused him of governing as though he were already on the campaign trail.

Asked if she wanted to remain France’s first lady after 2012, Bruni-Sarkozy said: “He was the one elected by the French, all that depends on him. I would be glad (to stay).”

The catwalk star-turned-chanteuse and Sarkozy married in February 2008, four months after Sarkozy divorced his second wife.

Prince Charles Car Attacked During Student Protests

Prince Charles car was attacked in central London last night during student protests after British Prime Minister David Camerons government won a parliamentary vote to allow universities to triple tuition fees.

The limousine, bearing the royal coat of arms, had paint thrown at it in as the couple were being driven to a show at the Palladium Theatre. A window was cracked. Still pictures showed the royal couple in the car looking shocked.

The attack took place as thousands of students staged demonstrations around Parliament against the increase in tuition fees. Camerons Conservative-led government won the vote by 323 to 302 in the 650-member House of Commons, heading off a revolt by some members of the Liberal Democrats, the junior coalition partners, who had had pledged to oppose any rise.

A woman, Saira Bibi, who was flogged by the Taliban two years ago in Swat has come into limelight.

Abhishek flies down for a night for special screening of Guzaarish

Love for Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has a sparkling connotation even after five years of togetherness. On Thursday night, for a special screening of

his wife’s film Guzaarish, Abhishek flew into Mumbai out of Goa where he’s shooting with a whole bunch of co-stars for Abbas-Mustan’s Players

and flew back to Goa the next morning, and that too when there was just one day of shooting left in Goa.

Says a source, “Aishwarya told him the premiere for Guzaarish was cancelled, so he had no plans of returning to Mumbai until Saturday morning when the

schedule in Goa ended.

But when he heard that there was a very special screening of Guzaarish on Thursday evening for hand-picked guests, Abhishek decided there was no way

he would not stand by his wife’s side at this important gathering.

Abhishek first informed all his co-stars Bipasha Basu, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Sonam Kapoor, he then took Abbas-Mustan into confidence. The directors were

worried since there was just one day’s shoot. But when they understood how important it was for Abhishek to be by his wife’s side, they let him go. He flew

out into Mumbai on Thursday evening, flew back on Friday morning to complete the schedule.”
