Y-Films is releasing their debut film Luv Ka The End internationally

Given the brand new star cast of Y-Films’ LUV KA THE END, one assumed that the youth wing of Yash Raj would not release the film internationally, but the company, headed by the enterprising Ashish Patil, is gung ho about the product and has taken the decision to release the film in theatres internationally.

While the film will have a fairly extensive release in U.A.E., Yash Raj will release the film limited screens in U.S.A., South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Fiji, Mauritius and Indonesia. Generally, non-star cast films or those starring new names are released directly on DVD, but this move should encourage film-makers making films with new faces to explore international avenues as well theatrically.

Kunal Kohli forbids Imran and Deepika from tweeting

Kunal Kohli has forbidden Imran Khan and Deepika Padukone, the stars of his under-production film Break Ke Baad, currently shooting in Mauritius, from going on any social networking site on the internet to talk about their film.

This is the second producer to have blocked his stars from tweeting about a film. Earlier Sajid Nadiadwala had to restrain Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra from social networking about their film Anjaana Anjaani.

But Kunal Kohli says his case is different from Anjaana Anjaani.

Explains Kohli, “I’ve only asked Deepika and Imran to desist from tweeting for three weeks until Imran’s new film I Hate LUV Storys is released. I don’t want any overlapping in the public’s subconscious about the two films. Once Imran’s other film is out, he and Deepika are free to tweet to their heart’s content.”

Until then Kohli isn’t letting his two incorrigible twitters put any visuals or words on the internet. This has apparently not been taken well by Imran and Deepika. Imran was heard grumbling loudly about the curtailment of freedom of expression.

Says Kunal determinedly, “I really don’t approve of stars giving out information on micro-blogging sites, but I don’t think we should stop them. What I can do is to decide when is the right time to tweet.”

‘Raavan’ in 2200 Screens Worldwide

Reliance BIG Pictures and Madras Talkies’ forthcoming film RAAVAN will release in approximately 2200 screens worldwide on Friday, June 18, making it the first Indian film to release simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions.

The Hindi version of the film RAAVAN is slated to release in 1250 screens in India and 325 screens overseas in over 35 countries, including India, U.S., Canada, U.K., U.A.E., Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, South Africa, Netherlands, France, Hong Kong, Pakistan, Sri Lanka etc.

The Tamil version RAVANAN will release in 225 screens in India, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka and also in Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Nasik, Surat, Baroda, Kolkata cities with English subtitles. It will release in 150 screens overseas in Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, U.S., U.K., Middle East Asia, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa etc.

The Telugu dubbed version VILLAIN will release in 215 screens in Andhra Pradesh and in additional 25 screens in U.S., Australia and New Zealand.

Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment have announced their release line up for 2011. GAME, starring Abhishek Bachchan, Kangna Ranaut, Boman Irani, Jimmy Shergill, Gauhar Khan, Shahana Goswami and Sarah Jane Dias, is slated for a 21st January 2011 release; Zoya Akhtar’s ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA, starring Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol and Kalki, is slated for an April-May 2011 release and DON 2, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani, Om Puri and Lara Dutta and directed by Farhan Akhtar, will release on 23rd December 2011.

‘Kites’ to release in over 2,300 screens worldwide

Reliance BIG Pictures and Rakesh Roshan’s eagerly awaited KITES will release on 21st May in over 2,300 screens worldwide. Of these, over 1,800 screens are in India and over 500 screens overseas, making KITES the biggest ever Indian release till date globally.

In its first phase, KITES will release in India, U.S., U.K., U.A.E., Australia, South Africa and 30 other countries on 21st May. In the second phase, it will release in additional 30 countries, which include various non-traditional markets.
