Karachi not to get a single unit from Turkish plant: KESC

KARACHI: Karachi will not get a single unit of electricity from the recently-obtained Turkish Rental Power Plant, revealed KESC chief Tabish Gohar.

According to Mr. Gohar, not a single unit of electricity will be added to KESC’s supply through the Turkish plant.

Denying issues of payments, he said that Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) doesn’t have any gas to supply.

He said that a new power plant of 560MW will start operation by 2012.

“KESC is converting its power generation units on coal at the cost of $120 million,” he said.

“We have requested National Electricity Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to raise the power tariff by 8 paisas to generate resources for the conversion.” Trend Pk

Pak tennis team training camp from tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s tennis team will start training for Junior Davis Cup at a training camp from tomorrow (Thursday) here, Geo News reported Wednesday.

According to Secretary PTF Major Rashid Khan, Adil Kohari and Ahmed Babar and Nameer Shamsi have been selected through trials in Lahore.

He told that Kamran Khalil will coach at the Camp.

It should be noted that Junior Davis Cup would be played in Malaysia from April 19 to 24. Pakistan will take part in the event’s qualifying round.
