Sag Nominations 2010

Sag Nominations 2010, The SAG nominations for 2010 has been announced. The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) announced the list of nominations for its 16th annual awards. The list of 2010 SAG nominations in five film and eight television categories will be revealed at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, in the SilverScreen Theater at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood.

‘Couples Retreat’ tops at box office

LOS ANGELES : ‘Couples Retreat’ tops at box office, Relationship comedy ‘Couples Retreat’ shot to the top of the North American box office in its first week of release, final figures showed Monday.

The movie, starring comic favourites Vince Vaughn and Jason Bateman, follows four couples at a retreat where their relationships come under a little more scrutiny than they would like.

The movie scored 34.3 million dollars to knock down tongue-in-cheek comedy “Zombieland” to the number two spot, according to figures from Exhibitor Relations.

The gory but hilarious take on a zombie invasion, starring Woody Harrelson, took 14.8 million dollars in its second week in theatres.

“Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs,” the animated tale of an island rained on by junk food, also fell a place to number three, earning 11.5 million in box office receipts.

In fourth place was low-budget supernatural thriller “Paranormal Activity,” raking in 7.9 million dollars after being screened in only 159 theatres.

The film, reportedly made for a paltry 11,000 dollars, has earned comparisons to 1999 hit “The Blair Witch Project” and focuses on supernatural goings on in a suburban San Diego house.

Falling to fifth spot was the 3-D format re-release of popular Pixar cartoons “Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2,” which took in a combined 7.8 million. The films came ahead of the much-anticipated “Toy Story 3,” due out next year.

Futuristic Bruce Willis action film “Surrogates” about people living their lives through sexy robot replicas of themselves took sixth place with 4.3 million dollars.

Coming in seventh was “The Invention of Lying,” which stars British comedian Ricky Gervais and Jennifer Garner as a couple living in an alternative reality where nobody ever lies. The film took 3.3 million dollars.

Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut “Whip It” set in the world of all-female roller derbies with “Juno” star Ellen Page was eighth with 2.8 million dollars.

Ninth spot was taken by controversial documentarian Michael Moore’s “Capitalism: A Love Story,” with 2.6 million dollars.

Rounding out the top 10 was “Fame,” an updated version of the 1980 musical, earning 2.5 million dollars in its third week in theatres.

MUMBAI : Shah Rukh Khan admits to stopping Gauri from wearing short skirts when they were dating. As Tere Mere Beach Mein host Farah Khan grills SRK and he admits being insecure of his relationship like most men in the initial years when they were dating.

She asks if he ever told Gauri not to wear certain outfits or curtailed her movements. He says, “I wouldn’t like it if Gauri left her hair loose. She’s so beautiful that I used to stop her wearing mini-skirts or T-shirts. But I promised her the minute we married that I’d never behave in such a rotten manner. 2012 End of The World

About Movie : The story blends the idea of the Mayan calendar, which predicts the world ending in 2012, with natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions, typhoons and glaciers plaguing the planet and a large cast of characters dealing with the mayhem. The movie has two central characters named Columbus and Tallahassee. They both are trying to survive in a world which has been taken over by the zombies. Directed by Roland Emmerich, and starring John Cusack and Amanda Peet, 2012 takes the “natural disasters foretold by ancient calendar” angle. Sun storms are affecting Earth, culminating in tsunamis, earthquakes and volcanoes.

Jennifer Beals,Jesse Eisenberg:Beals originally came to fame as the welder-turned-dancer in 1983’s hit movie Flashdance, a role she landed as an undergraduate at Yale University. She has starred in several movies since then, but most have been small roles in large studio films, like Denzel Washington’s Devil in a Blue Dress and the recent John Cusack/Gene Hackman film Runaway Jury, or roles in small independent films, like Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle, The Last Days of Disco, Twilight of the Golds, and The Anniversary Party.

Then last year, she was cast in The L Word as Bette, a lesbian museum director trying to have a baby with her partner, Tina (Laurel Holloman), and the rest is about to become history.

Beals is not a lesbian in real life (she was married for 10 years to director Alexandre Rockwell before they divorced in 1996, and she is now married to Ken Dixon, a Canadian film technician), but she finds it easier to play one on TV because she’s biracial, so she has “always lived sort-of on the outside,” she told Curve Magazine last December. “The idea of being the other in society is not foreign to me.”

With an African-American father and an Irish mother, Beals belongs to the growing group of Americans–seven million, in fact, according to the 2000 census data–who have a racially mixed heritage, but she did not publicly identify as biracial until recently. Prior to taking this role on The L Word, in fact, only two of the dozens of characters Beals played over the years have been biracial; the rest have been white women or women whose race was unspecified but assumed to be white. This likely has less to do with Beals, however, than with the fact that there have been almost no explicitly biracial characters on film or television.
