John Wright Appointed As New New Zealand Coach

After 11 ODI defeats in a row it is decided that Mark Greatbatch should be replace with John Wright as a coach. He was also ready to step down after such poor cricketing display from New Zealand team. There were two consecutive series defeats to New Zealand. One defeat came from Bangladesh and other from India. John is feeling exited for his new job ahead.

He said that he is going to look in past and will concentrate on his new job. His main focus is on Pakistan series and world cup 2011. New Zealand board has contracted him till West Indies tour of 2012. John was also appointed as Indian coach and he was contracted with India in 2000 and remained with then as coach for 5 years.

It is also decided by New Zealand board that Mark will perform as batting coach in New Zealand’s high-performance program. Zealand Cricket CEO Justin Vaughan said that the change is made for making good changes in New Zealand Cricket. He also said that the change is expected to made real difference in performance. In last two years New Zealand has changed 4 coaches. The replaced coach Mark Greatbatch took coaching responsibility in January and performed for nearly an year and now John Wright is appointed as new coach.

Cook Fails Again as Asif Strikes Early

England have won the toss and decided to bat against Pakistan
Third Test match between Pakistan and England is underway at The Oval while Alastair Cook’s woes continued when he was caught behind off Mohammad Asif for 6 early on the first day of the third Test at The Oval.
The national team made four changes in the side. Muhammad Yousaf and Yasir Hameed have been included in the team in place of Shoaib Malik and Umer Amin while Wahhab Riaz has been successful in making test debut. Team Manager Yawar Saeed told APakistanNews.Com that Kamran Akmal will replace unfit wicket keeper Zulqarnain Haider. After Azhar Ali and Umer Amin, Wahhab Riaz will be third player to make test debut.

MJ Prior And SCJ Broad Rescued England Team After Batting Collapse

In the third match against Pakistan at Oval cricket ground England have won the toss and they elected to bat first. M Asif strike first for Pakistan as he picked AN Cook early in the inning. Test match debutant Wahab Riaz took four wickets for Pakistan and destroy England top batting order. M Aamir took 2 wickets.

MJ Prior and SCJ Broad combined together when England lost seven wickets for just 94 runs. They batted aggressively and took England score to 175 runs. At Tea England were 175 for the loss of 7 wickets. In the morning secession England lost 5 wickets and they scored 70 runs. Second secession brought 105 runs for then for just 2 wickets.

England team continue with winning eleven and consists of AJ Strauss , JM Anderson, SCJ Broad, PD Collingwood, AN Cook, ST Finn, EJG Morgan, KP Petersen, MJ Prior, GP Swann and IJL Trott.

Pakistan after four changes constitutes a team with Salman Butt, Kamran Akmal, Azhar Ali, Imran Farhat, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Yousaf, Saeed Ajmal, Umar Akmal, Wahab Riaz, and Yasir Hameed. Pakistan is 2 down in the series and to win this match is necessary for them to stay in series.

David Wright Concussion

David Wright Concussion, David Wright was hit in the head by a pitch thrown by Matt Cain in the bottom of the fourth inning during today’s game.

Wright walked off the field under his own power, and Fernando Tatis replaced him as a pinch runner.

David Wright was discharged from the Hospital for Special Surgery Sunday.
