PIC drugs issue: YDA again on roads to protect seniors

Young doctors came out to protect senior doctors who had been suspended by Punjab government after deaths from reaction of PIC drugs.

 

On Saturday, the YDA announced that Out Patient Departments of all hospitals of Lahore will remain close against transfer and suspension of senior doctors.

 

The association said that purchase and supply of medicine is responsibility of Punjab government and suspended doctors were not guilty.
 

Lawyers beat man in LHC premises

As per detail, Muhammad Shakil, after getting interim bail in a case exchanged harsh words with the rival group’s counsel Shabir Ahmad.

 

On this, Shabir Ahmad started beating Shakil along with his colleagues. Shakil ran to main gate and tried to escape but lawyers chased him and started beating him again.

 

On intervention of some lawyers, Shakil was freed after apologising from Advocate Shabir.
 

Parliament will decide NATO supply restoration: COAS

While talking to the media in Jaccobabad, Chief of Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kayani said that this is wrong impression that Pakistani fighter jets are unable to hit the NATO aircrafts.

He said that F-16 jets would be seldom used in war on terror, adding that restoration of NATO supply restoration would be decided by the Parliament.

Salman Bashir is likely to send to New Delhi or Paris.

According to sources, foreign secretary Salman Bashir is getting retired on March 3 and will be replaced by Jalil Abbas Jilani as new one. Jalil Abbas is rendering his services in Brussels at present.

The sources say that Salman Bashir is likely to appoint as an ambassador to Paris or New Delhi in accordance with new contract.

Serbia into Davis Cup quarter-finals

Serbia reached the Davis Cup quarter-finals here on Sunday when Janko Tipsarevic defeated Michael Ryderstedt 6-2, 7-6 (7/5), 7-5 to secure an unbeatable 3-1 lead over Sweden.

 

The Serbs, playing without world number one Novak Djokovic, won both opening rubbers on Friday but Sweden stayed alive by winning the doubles on Saturday.
 

Lahore: CNG stations closed for 64 hours

According to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) load management plan, the CNG stations in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Sahiwal and Multan regions will remain shut for 64 hours.

 

The CNG stations will remain closed from 6:00am today to 10:00pm on Wedneday. On the other hand, gas supply to textile industry in Lahore, Muridke and Sheikhupura regions has been resumed for two days.
 

PM indicted in contempt case, denies charges

A seven-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk and comprising Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmani, Justice Ijaz Afzal Khan, Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Athar Saeed heard the case.

 

Earlier, the Supreme Court indicted Gilani for not implementing the court orders.

 

PM Gilani arrived in the Supreme Court amid tight security arrangements.

 

Aitzaz Ahsan has informed the court that he needs time until February 24 for filing the answers to the charges against the Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.

 

Earlier, the prime minister denied the charges after the charge sheet was read out to him. The PM said he has understood the charges and denies them.

 

Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk said that judges may not be available on February 24.

Multan: PML-N workers protest against leadership

Protestors also set a hunger strike camp in Ganta Ghar Chowk while binding black ribbons on their arms. A large number of party workers gathered on the point and also shouted slogans for their rights.

 

They were of the view that party leadership has rejected the senior leader Ashiq Ali Shajra and appointed Bilal Butt as district president while Tariq Rashid has been nominated as party candidate from NA 149 by sidelining the former federal minister Saeed Qureshi.

 

Protestors were of the view that if Nawaz Sharif stops preferring Zulfiqar Khosa in political affairs, party may be secured from rift in Multan.
 

Multan: Mother of 6 killed by in-laws

As per details, Shamshad Bibi from Budhla Sunt in the suburb of Multan was brutally tortured by his husband Allah Bux and his family members and condemned to death. Accused husband escaped from the house.

 

Police have taken the dead body in custody and sent it to Nishtar Hospital for postmortem.

 

Victim’s family members said that clash and contradiction had become a routine between Shamshad Bibi and her in-law.
