Lahore, trendpk: Parents of Justice Javaid Iqbal of Supreme Court have been killed by the dacoits on resisting the robbery in Lahore.
Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has condemned the incident ordered to commence the inquiry immediately.
President for strict action against culprits behind Karachi killings
President Asif Ali Zardari Tuesday night directed the Interior Minister Rehman Malik to submit a comprehensive report on the situation in Karachi.
He also directed that those behind the present spree of targeted killings be apprehended and brought to justice regardless of their political affiliations. President Asif Ali Zardari issued the directives during a meeting of the senior leadership of PPP present in Islamabad.
The meeting presided over by the Party Co-Chairman President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani discussed the overall political situation and law and order situation in the country.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Federal Ministers Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Syed Naveed Qamar,Rehman Malik and Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Secretary General of the Party Jahangir Badar, Senator Faisal Raza Abidi, Ms. Mehreen Anwar Raja, Ms. Rukhsana Bangash, Ms. Fouzia Wahab, Ms. Fouzia Habib and Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar.
The meeting took stock of the current situation and the participants put forth their points of view and suggestions on various issues.
President convenes meeting of PPP MPs
President Asif Ali Zardari has convened a meeting of PPP MPs for Monday to discuss strategies to react on rumors of changes in the present set-up and confrontation with SC.
PPPs MNAs and Senators besides Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani will be attending the meeting which is to be held here at the Presidency. Main agenda of the meeting is to review the overall political situation in the country.
The meeting will also contemplate tabling of a resolution in connection with Presidents immunity in the National Assembly.
Nowshera flood victims create chaos on arrival of PML-Q leaders

PESHAWAR: A large number of Nowshera flood victims became disorderly on the arrival of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leaders, Chaudhry Shujaat and Mushahid Hussain.
According to details, PML-Q leaders came to visit the flood victims of Mohib Banda, Nowshera to distribute sweets and toys among the children.
After the arrival of both leaders, people congregated with hopes to meet them and give details of the problems being faced.

Kotli bus crash death toll at 17

KOTLI: At least 17 people, including six women, were killed and over 30 injured on Friday after a passenger bus plunged into a deep ravine in Kotli district of Azad Kashmir.
The accident took place near the town of Kotli, 50km south of the regional capital Muzaffarabad. The driver lost control of the bus at a turn and it fell into a deep ravine.
According to reports, some 50 passengers were aboard the bus when it rolled into a ravine.
Out of 30, four of the injured are reportedly in critical condition. All the injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital, where emergency has been declared. SAMAA

KARACHI: People are flocking to bazaars and shopping malls in large numbers to carry out Eid shopping as part of their Chaand Raat celebrations.
Shoppers are converging to markets in every nook and corner of the country to finalize their Eid preparations.
Women and girls are decorating their hands with mehndi (hina).
Most of the shoppers are done with their shopping while many are still busy in buying new dresses, shoes and other items.

No plan to launch Swat-like operation in Balochistan: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Friday categorically stated that the government has no intention to launch a Swat-like military operation in Balochistan.
“There is no such plan to launch a Swat or Malakand-like operation. That is wrong. It is for the provincial government in Balochistan to take decisions about their province”, Gilani told a group of newspaper editors and media persons here at the Prime Minister House.
The Prime Minister said that Interior Minister Rehman Malik did not talk about any military operation in Balochistan.
Gilani said the government was very sensitive about Balochistan, adding, the approval of a special Balochistan package was reflective of the government’s positive approach.

President, PM, Nawaz strongly condemn Lahore blasts
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani and Pakistan Muslim League-N Chief Nawaz Sharif Wednesday expressed profound grief on the killings of innocent people in triple blasts that ripped through a Yaum-e-Ali (RA) procession in Lahore.
The Prime Minister said those playing with lives of innocent people will not be able to escape from the grips of law.
The President, PM and Nawaz Sharif in their separate statements termed the blasts as cowardly acts and expressed sympathies with the bereaved families.

Pakistan economy to suffer prolonged flood damage

ISLAMABAD: Floods have ravaged Pakistan’s economy, the prime minister said on Wednesday, with massive job losses and soaring inflation expected to hurt a nation whose stability is vital to the U.S. war against militancy.
Briefing the cabinet on the worst floods to hit impoverished Pakistan, Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani expressed concerns over food security due to the prolonged damage to agriculture and said the social impact of the disaster was “serious”.
