PCOA threatens movement if demands not met

LAHORE: The Punjab Civil Officers Association (PCOA) has threatened to launch a protest movement from Monday against the provincial government’s failure to implement its demands.

Two months ago, PCOA had threatened to go on strike against the appointment of DMG officers on all key posts in Punjab.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif constituted a seven member committee under the chairmanship of Zulfiqar Khosa to resolve the row.

Although the committee accepted almost all the demands made by PCOA, it failed to implement any of them.

On this, PCOA President Rai Manzoor Nasir has given the provincial government two days to implement the demands.

Referring to the posting of Ahmed Cheema of DMG group as Lahore’s DCO, Nasir said that the same officer had already served on Grade 21.

Blast in DG Khan Six killed, 35 Injured

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Six persons were killed and 35 others were injured in an explosion near Khosa Market in Dera Ghazi Khan.

According to initial reports the blast occurred near the residence of Zulfiqar Khosa, senior advisor of the Chief Minister of Punjab. Khosa was not present at his residence at the time of the explosion.

Police have cordoned off the area and the injured were being transferred to local hospitals.

According to sources five kilogrammes explosives were used in the blast.

At least 10 shops were destroyed in the blast. Commissioner Dera Ghazi Khan has said that several people were still trapped under the debris of a collapsed structure.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has condemned the bombing.

Balochistan CM Meets Shahbaz Sharif

LAHORE, Pakistan News: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani called on Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here on Sunday and discussed matters relating to National Finance Commission (NFC) Award.

Senior Provincial Minister Raja Riaz Ahmed, Senior Advisor to CM Zulfiqar Khosa, Punjab Fnance Minister Tanvir Ashraf Kaira, Balochistan Finance Minister and economic expert Dr. Salman Shah were present on the occasion.

Views were also exchanged on inter-provincial relations and matters of mutual interest during the meeting.
