PPP, MQM agree to work together

KARACHI: The Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) agreed on Thursday in a meeting that both the parties will work together for maintaining peace in Karachi.
The meeting between the two parties held at Sindh Governor House where Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulifqar Mirza were presented while the MQM delegation included Dr Farooq Sattar, Babar Ghauri and Raza Haroon.
The meeting decided that strict action would be taken against those who do not hand over illegal weapons, men involved in criminal activities and target killings.
Rehman Malik said that neither the PPP nor the MQM will leave each other while Mirza said that the MQM is a coalition partner.

KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulifqar Mirza said on Thursday that no operation would be conducted without his consultation, adding that the government has not decided to conduct operation in Lyari, the stronghold of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party.
He along with Shahi Syed, the president of the Awami National Party (ANP) for Sindh chapter, told media that law enforcement agencies will take action in the city wherever it is required. “The routine action is being taken against the criminals.”
Mirza said that several miscreants, involved in target killings, under the police custody would not be freed.
Shahi Syed said that his party decided to boycott from PS-94 because the government did not call army in the constituency.
He said that his party had conveyed Mirza about the reservations. SAMAA
All shrines to open by tomorrow: Sindh Minister

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Auqaf Abdul Haseeb pledged on Friday that the government will open all shrines which were closed on the orders of Sindh Home Minister Dr. Zulifqar Mirza after twin blasts at Abdullah Shah Ghazi’s shrine.
Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah during his visit to Ghazi’s shrine last night pledged that all shrines will be opened by Friday (today), but law enforcement agencies have disallowed visitor entry into shrines anywhere in the city.
Sources told SAMAA on Friday that the government is planning to make a third point of entry within the premises of Ghazi’s shrine. SAMAA

BADIN: The Speaker National Assembly Dr. Fehmida Mirza on Saturday visited flood relief camps and distributed Watan Cards.
Sindh Home Minister Dr. Zulifqar Mirza and former test cricketer, Zaheer Abbas, also accompanied the speaker.
While talking to SAMAA on the occasion, she said that about 80 percent of the people in Pakistan are living below the poverty line and, she added, the situation would become even worse after the floods. SAMAA
Zulifqar Mirza, Farooq Sattar tried to stop CJP’s Karachi visit
Karachi, Pakistan:- Sindh Interior Minister Zulifqar Mirza has accused that Farooq Sattar tried to stop Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry’s arrival in Karachi May 12.
He said that he will inform the media all about the matter. In a press conference in Karachi, Zulifqar Mirza said that he would retaliate if anybody tried to destabilize our government on hints of establishment. He vowed to wage war against the people who destabilized the country.
He said that democracy was restored after a lot of sacrifices given by the people, PPP, ANP on May 12 in Karachi. He said that the Chief Justice should reopen the cases which were ended by NRO.
