Turkey”s opposition party elects leader

ANKARA: Turkey”s main opposition party is set to elect an anti-corruption crusader as its new leader following the chairman”s resignation over a sex scandal.
Kemal Kilicdaroglu is standing unopposed for the leadership of the pro-secular Republican People”s Party at the party”s congress Saturday.
The 62-year old former bureaucrat headed Turkey”s social security agency and led an association dedicated to fighting state corruption before winning a seat in parliament in 2002.
