US Forged Documents Blasted As Fabricated By Iran

WASHINGTON: Iran accused the U.S. of using “false documents” and based on political pressure to build their case that Tehran is trying to develop nuclear weapons.

In an eight-page letter to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), obtained by The Associated Press, Iran’s envoy to the nuclear watchdog, Ali Asghar Soltanieh, rejected Washington’s accusations as “fabricated, false and baseless”.

Soltanieh also denounced Britain and France by “ill will and the political motive” in its relations with the Islamic Republic, reports from the media.

The letter comes days after Israel and unidentified Western diplomats said the IAEA, Mohamed ElBaradei, was hiding incriminating information on Iran’s nuclear program, allegedly showing that Iran was seeking information about nuclear weapons.

The IAEA has denied the allegations.

At the same time, in its report published last week, ElBaradei said that the arguments based on Western intelligence that Iran has a nuclear bomb research program sounded credible, and that Tehran must confront.

But Soltanieh said that intelligence is based on “false documents” and that documents and materials that showed that Iran lacks authenticity, media reports.

“Therefore, this issue should be closed,” he wrote.

ElBaradei said in his report that Western powers are making it harder for the agency to conduct talks with Iran on the supposed intelligence, as they are limiting the availability of information to Iran.
